Hello, fellow writers! Wow, two years since this place saw any action? Is anyone interested in Jano-ing with me this upcoming year?

I had two ideas for NaNoWriMo, and I went with my dragon fantasy story I had started last year. I have a second, newer idea for an apocalyptic tale with a survivalist 'prepper' main character. This is the one I'd like to do in January. I have a basic scenario and plan for it to be mostly an interesting character study, and I really have nothing more than that. Sounds perfect for a nano-esque experience! I'm trying to recruit a few friends to join me, as it's the camaraderie & support that helps me out so much during NaNo.

Two weeks to prep! Let me know if you're in. I'd be happy to try to post here more or maybe organize some sprints if folks are interested. If it's dead, I'll just keep it to my own LJ then.

Thanks!

What with all my friends going on about Nano, I wondered:  who's going to to JaNo next year?

 Who's with me?!
  • Any ideas for JaNo '10?
  • Are you itching to get back to writing since NaNo?
  • Do you think you'll fail and thus don't want to try?

If you can answer yes to just one of those questions you should do JaNo '10 :)

At the very least comment and tell me why you can't, thanks.

Don't Panic (Marvin)
Is anyone gearing up to write 50,000 words in five weeks? I started NaNoWriMo with everyone else and got about three days into it before I fell apart from exhaustion and lack of preparation. So I'll restart the novel on 1st January.

Anyone else?

I had no idea this community existed till I posted in my LJ about doing a "NaDiHaTiNoNoWriMo" (National I Didn't Have Time in November Novel Writing Month) in January and a friend directed me here. I'm really excited! November is a horrible month for me with college, so winter break is a much better time!

I'm Rachael, by the way. I've never done NaNoWriMo, but I wrote a novel for my senior project in High school a few years ago, which I'm now trying to get to an agent. I'll be using this time to work on the second book in the series.

I can't wait to begin! So Nice to find others like me!

me
I'd just like to introduce myself to the community

The name is Ali and I'm an alcoholic... LoL no but I've attempted NanoWriMo several times and failed miserably.
Mostly because its a bad month you know? However, in January of '07 I attempted JaNo and it went much better for me. So I'd really like to try this again! Go JaNo '09!!!!

Also, over at the NaNo com they had this thread... http://community.livejournal.com/nanowrimo/1893375.html but I'm thinking... JaNoWriMo comm... no voting involved!!!

So yeah I'm pimping this comm and will continue to do so until otherwise informed... (note to Mods: I'm sorry if this is an unwelcome post, so feel free to delete but please don't delete me *blinks big sad eyes*)

Please don't ask me why if I know Novembers don't work for me why I continue to subject myself to them... *hangs head*

One last thing, if anyone is reading this a quick comment maybe to get caught up with everyone, who feels like JaNo '09 sounds good to them?

Thank you for your time!!!

Not long to go now, guys.

Anyone up for a status report? Word counts, woes, pros and cons of such current status?

Has anyone finished?

I haven’t, I was kicked out by writers block in week three or so.

Speaking of which, is anyone here going to be participating in NaNoWriMo this year?

Well, I beat 15K today. I'm a bit behind from where I've wanted to be, but so far things are coming along really well. After I hit about 25K I really have no idea what direction I'm going to go. There are a lot of ways I could go with this whole alternate history WW2 idea. I'm hoping my characters take over and tell me where they want to go! :-) Otherwise I seriously need inspiration over the weekend.

How are your wordcounts? Any revelations you care to share?

Also is anyone posting sample segments like you'd have on your NaNo profile? And how? Or are we just skipping that feature this time around?

So how's everyone doing so far, wordcount wise, or otherwise? I haven't broken 1,000 yet. It's been a combination of laziness, post-holiday socialising, and too much school work to catch up on. I do hope to get a lot written tonight, though. I think I've finally got a fairly good handle on what exactly I'm writing here.

How about you guys? Share your triumphs/frustrations!
